At my 1st ultrasound, I was offered 3 tests whose sole purpose was to detect disability in my baby. I asked the dr, so what if we find something? She said we consider “our options.” Our medical system is on a search & destroy hunt for babies w/ disability. & I’m finding a new doc

IMO- these tests are fine, but only for you to be better prepared when you're child is born. Not for the purpose of aborting because your child isn't what the world deems "perfect".

Agree. Sadly, they aren’t used for that purpose primarily and “termination” is always “offered.” Especially amniocentesis - which can cause miscarriage - it’s mostly used to allow for an abortion as quick as possible.

My sister in law was told that her son had a number of life threatening issues including organs outside his body and the doctors of course had told her that her best option would be to abort. He was born with none of the issues that were predicted and is healthy & a father now

For those asking, main option was "termination" (I was told the dr does it herself, despite saying she was "pro-life.") Yes, ultrasound later in pregnancy can help prep a family for a baby w/ disability. But amniocentesis can cause miscarriage & is often done to enable abortion

I was blindsided at 20weeks with our baby’s diagnosis. We were encouraged to terminate many times. We were told inaccurate info and blatant untruths. Our daughter is the best thing that ever happened to our family. And not in spite of her diagnosis. But because of who she is.
