Close to 70,000 excess deaths pal. But it's good you're agreeing that he's responsible for at least 45,000 of them!

THREAD Re-opening schools with a policy of NOT testing. This seems to be more about deliberately seeding infection into schools than protecting students and staff. It's horrific.

19/ isolating students allowing those who arent infected to return to school within a few days rather than missing two weeks of being in school. So if its a "moral duty" for all students to be in school then why isn't gov willing to provide mass testing for isolating students?

Not only was David Miliband complicit in an transnational kidnap and torture network ("rules-based international order" my arse), he also sprang to the defence of the MP guilty of the most egregious example of Labour racism this century.

People had told me that Tom Watson had defended Phil Woolas. I can't remember having seen this before. Honestly, the way some people have been allowed to dress themselves as anti-racists is a shameful indictment of our media.

And a fun (well, I say fun, rollercoasters are fun, but they can make you feel sick...) little postscript to this story; Joseph Fitzpatrick, Woolas' election agent, the one who wrote the email about making the 'white vote' angry... later stood as a UKIP candidate. 10/10

2/ When a female Labour leader did respond decisively, she was rounded on by a significant number of MPs in an extremely hostile meeting, in which they demanded that the Leader of the Labour Party did not act outside established procedures. 9/X

Harriet Harman was acting Leader when the court case was concluded (standing in for Ed Miliband who was on paternity leave). She took the decision to suspend Woolas. In November 2010, while he was appealing the decision, she ruled out any future for Woolas as a Labour MP. 5/X

The court ordered a new election to be held, Woolas was barred from standing as an MP for three years, and in the resulting by-election Debbie Abrahams won the seat for Labour with a majority of over 3000 votes. Good riddance to bad rubbish, yes? Unfortunately, no. 4/X

The subsequent court case revealed that the racism was deliberate; an email from his agent included the line "if we don't get the white vote angry he's gone". Racism alone didn't do for him, though. The court found that Woolas had made false statements about his opponent. 3/X
