This Mother's Day (and all days) let's not forget that humans are a species that survives and thrives because our children do NOT have to rely solely on their mothers, but on extended networks of caregivers. Happy Allomothers' Day to all the wonderful allomothers out there.

Does anybody include anti-sexual-harassment training in Responsible Conduct of Research training for grad students & postdocs? It seems thematically appropriate, since sexual harassment in scientific settings is scientific misconduct. Asking for a new RCR course director (me).

Dear PIs/Advisors, My challenge to you today is to say "Thank You" to one of your trainees for something they did in or for the lab. It really means so much to us.

Today's goal: Remember that you don’t need anyone’s approval or permission to be yourself and to do your work. Give yourself your own blessing. Keep moving.

The TX House has finally passed, by a 126-20 margin, 's limiting arrests for Class-C traffic infractions unless there's a public-safety justification. This is similar to a provision stripped out of the Act when the passed it in 2017.

If you’re in Georgia, try not to panic. Abortion is still legal and much of this bill won’t go into effect for a while, if at all, thanks to lawyers. Call your clinic or . They’ll talk you through the process and help you get the abortion you want.

It's okay for the high achieving and self-actualized women you admire to want conventional things like long-term partners and children. It doesn't mean they're following some enculturation, it may mean that they've thought and decided what they want and that's still feminist

Interesting take: "No doctoral programs I know of teach students the real-world skills they will need as professors: how to raise funds, write strategic plans, organize research or teaching teams, handle a budget, manage staff, or negotiate with deans."
