THE LAOIS SPCA WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE WHO KINDLY SUPPORTED OUR BUCKET COLLECTION IN PORTLAOISE ON SAT 17/8. With nearly 100 kittens in our care, all to be vaccinated, wormed & neutered before rehoming, it’s a very expensive time for us—so your support is greatly appreciated

His wellbeing is in your hands and is your responsibility- don't you think you owe it to him.

This will mean a vet consultation and antibiotics at least, and guess what, they will go out again the next week and be involved in a fight again. The cost for each trip to the vet will be over €50 whereas you could have had him neutered for that amount and no more fighting.

When will people realise that by not neutering your male cats you are encouraging them to go out looking for a female, in competition with other males and they will fight and if you are lucky they will eventually find their way home in a very battered state.

THE STORIES WE HEAR “I’ve just found a litter of kittens but I can’t keep them... we’re all allergic... I’m leaving the country in two hours... my wife just had a baby... I’ve a dog that kills cats...”

We’ve had two neutering schemes this year so far, but no, people opt for the cock and bull story which we’ve heard a million times and can see through in minutes. The kittens are the victims once again.

All because people won’t neuter their cats and then, when the kittens start running around, they assume volunteers — who are already stressed — will take even more kittens into their overcrowded homes.

This lovely little 12 week girl is Sif. Sif came into our care as part of a litter of four little scared kittens. They have now been well socialized and love to play and cuddle.

Hi. The loud breathing might be an indication (s)he is not well. Quarantine in a nice safe place, a bit of straw for a bed, food and water and time to heal. Then release. The Kildare Animal Foundation, Wildlife unit might know more (not on Twitter)
