I have a 2:1 from a poly. Yet thanks to extracurricular reading I apparently know more about WW2, Nazism, the Weimar Republic, LGBT history & science than a senior BBC editor. Books are a gateway to intelligence, tolerance, universes, & mispronouncing words you’ve only ever read.

Replaying Dragon Age Awakening - and being reminded of how much a) I love that Anders b) how awful in every way Dragon Age 2 was. Can we just agree that that game is not canon?

Why is everyone missing that she also works in the medical field? They’re *both* residents, and as a psychiatrist, I’m willing to bet that her job is harder than his.

They’re both doctors. What on Earth makes you think he’s accurately describing her workload?

They’re both doctors and she’s a psychiatrist. He doesn’t want an hour a week; he wants to opt out of all household responsibilities and social interaction, even though they do the same level of job.

Laundry *once a week*? For two people? In what universe?

Toerag tearaway means they were a bit wild in their youth. The sister being a ‘bit wet’ - she was probably conservative, boring, sanctimonious. Think the kind of person who goes to a C of E church and lectures the vicar if she sees him having a sherry after dinner.

What he’s describing is not being a traditional housewife, it’s being a surrendered wife. Unless you choose that as a very specific form of bdsm, that’s abuse.

Who the everliving eff thinks the abused wife is wrong / equally to blame here?

Nope. Counselling doesn’t help in cases of abuse. She just needs to leave.

Yeah, but you’re acting like they’re equally wrong. Him abusing his wife and her criticising an abstract notion of culture are not even in the same ballpark.

This is not an ESH situation. OP is being abused by a man who is using the South as an excuse for his abusive misogyny. Be mad at *him* ffs.

stop asking “what do young people want?” all we are asking is a stable partner (mysterious water dragon) and a steady job (bathhouse worker in a haunted theme park).

I never once mentioned Mein Kampf so please don’t misrepresent me. Although going Godwin’s law over Twilight is certainly something.

You think the romanticisation of stalking, physical and emotional abuse and self harm is normal? Plenty of books are terrible. People hate on Twilight because it’s harmful.
