JavaScript execution is CPU bound. CPU performance of popular laptops can be far slower than popular developer machines. Not just phones. More on the cost of JS:

Fair enough;) in the past I simply "abused git" on the output directory of a similar process I had to see if the diff is non-empty and conditionally do the rest. But as you said, if it currently works at the scale you are it can always be added later. Thanks!

A mark of intelligence is knowing when you don’t have enough evidence to draw a conclusion Being aware of what you don’t know is important and this explains why dumb people think they know everything

Observability applied to software systems means this: the ability to ask any question of your systems, or understand any user/users behavior or subjective experience, without having to predict that question in advance. Observability is about the unknown-unknowns.

This is also true for developer tools. Don’t start hiding features behind “enterprise” paywalls. The pay-as-you-go model has been incredibly successful so far. I see some AWS teams making this mistake right now. Wish they would focus on developers instead of on short term wins.

This is very disappointing to read but I'm not surprised. When Lambda School founder decided to bash us when I was explaining others how good and free education is in Switzerland (even though the very low tax scheme), I knew that something was off.

So I learned of an amusing bug today: Docker for Windows won't run if you have the Razer Synapse driver management tool running. But the reason is the funny part...

If I’m and I’m serious about security, I’d rip every last godforsaken example of overbroad permissions from my blog posts and docs as if they were vulgarities, and I’d not rest until minimal permissioned examples were used instead.
