Apparently it *is* too much to ask for a machine that can take 64 SATA drives.

Fun fact: a Thelios Major fully loaded with 256GB memory has EXACTLY 1,024 times the amount of memory an SGI Indy tops out at (256MB).

This is really weird. 's pqxx library does weird things - when I do a Debug build everything is fine, but when I do a Release build it always crashes with "bus error".

Can you purchase the Falcon 9 used in today's launch and make it a KSC historic exhibit?

One thing I hate about library documentation is they never tell you what headers you need to include. This is fine for a single-header library, but with multi-header libraries this becomes a problem.

Okay, in the rixiekitty project, I am at the point where I can start using database connections. I can do this 1 of 2 ways: 1. wait until a request comes in, then connect 2. connect, then wait for request There are pros and cons to each. What do y'all think I should do?

On the rixiekitty project, I now have a working template engine! It's a pretty nice one, too. I haven't implemented any of the core application logic yet, so it just looks like a static page.

Yay, the 500GB Samsnug Evo 970 Plus for my Gazelle (gaze14) should be arriving tomorrow! Then I'll have to locate my USB stick and figure out how to install Pop!_OS in a very specific way. On its own NVMe but using the EFI partition of another NVMe drive.

Is doing this going to make my forum software non-portable FreeBSD-only? Actually, I don't really care if the answer is "yar".

Hey devs, how is the timezone database used to convert from the hardware clock (which is always UTC) to local time?

I know how that's done in PHP forum software. Quite inferior, as when the DST switch happens, all times across the board switch. What I want to do is use the system's timezone database, that way all times are preserved when the DST switch happens.
