It did pay off in my case, personally, professionally, and by providing value to my employer in the form of the certifications I have passed, the knowledge I have gained through listening to presentations and attending seminars, and through meeting some of the wizards of DB2!

Have fun in your new role, ! I don't suppose an invitation to present on a DB2 LUW topic to WDUG would make you change your decision, would it... 😉

Db2 has a first-class XML engine that lets you query XML documents however you like, including views that use XMLTABLE to hide the fact that there are any XML documents involved at all. But will those views exploit XML indexes when queried? Of course they will.

Having migrated Oracle apps to Db2 with minimal follow-up coding, I can vouch for how well the Oracle compatibility features in Db2 support PL/SQL syntax, Oracle’s data types, and its concurrency model, all without sacrificing the performance benefits that native Db2 apps enjoy.
