The Garden of Heroes is a reminder to all who visit the State House of the sacrifices of RIers who have gone bravely into harm’s way to defend our nation. Today, Gold Star families joined us to honor the 29 RI soldiers who have given their lives for our freedom since 9/11.

Since we launched the Challenge just 1 year ago, we’ve provided 19 students with $20K+ in scholarships. We couldn’t have done this without our lead sponsor, the Credit Unions of Rhode Island (). They believed in this program from the very beginning.

I walk in my office on Inauguration Day and there’s my mom sitting in my chair after marching up dozens of steps in the back of the State House. Even at age 90, she doesn’t let anything stand in her way, especially when it comes to being with family. Happy Mother’s Day!
