The inscription over the fireplace in this room commemorates a visit to Knebworth by Queen Elizabeth I in 1588, the year of the Armada, to thank Sir Rowland Lytton for assembling the Hertfordshire county militia at Tilbury to meet the Spanish threat on land.

We have 2 Garden Theatre Shows coming to Knebworth House this August, 'Wind in the Willows' & 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Both shows will be running in a Covid-19 safe environment, socially distanced squares will be drawn out for each group to sit in.
