EA would make Frostbite the engine of choice for a text adventure on mobile if they could... it would need 100 engineers to handle what 1 twine team can do

I have PTSD from 4+ years of trying to make MEA on Frostbite, AMA

What was the big deal with frostbite anyways? It’s marketability? It seemed like dices acquisition was solely for that engine.

Can you pick an example of a time where you were totally deadlocked not able to progress on work because of some Frostbite BS?

I mean when you are a billion dollar company you don't want to spend millions of dollars to line Epic's pockets... so you want your internal tech to power everything and DICE was the only team with anything close to real tech that was usable by others

Wasn't one of the issues that Frostbite devs wanted to make it modular but the timetable was so ridiculous that they couldn't? And so now diff studios use diff versions, so just because a feature is in one game, you can't necessarily use it, so its just repeating work endlessly.

Was there ever any talk about investing to build a brand new engine?

Partially true, but I would say it's more the native client/server architecture and low level implementation problems and lack of robust tools and an animation engine.

Were the efforts from the Mass Effect Andromeda & Dragon Age Inquisition teams to mash Frostbite into something that works for RPG development entirely seperate ? Or did Inquisitions earlier attempt make it a bit easier for MEA?

I read the kotaku article, but from your perspective why didn’t Edmonton jump in sooner to “right the ship”? Would it have even made a difference? Reference:

because MEA was supposed to be Montreal's baby and Edmonton was concentrating on Anthem and DA

Let me ask another way: What do you think could have been done to make MEA a better experience? What was the biggest monkey wrench in the works?

What's even the basic experience of working on Frostbite like? I mean to say, what source control did you use, what language(s), what IDE? And does using any of those interfaces now in other contexts give you flashbacks?

Does it piss you off that ME:A was berated bc of, let's be honest, bc the men were better looking than the women (idc w/any1 says, sexy women would've dispelled 1/2 the critiques) yet Anthem is praised for it's combat which is basically ME:A's w/flying and worse cover?
