I support capitalism, individual rights, and limited government. Interests include politics, art/culture, sports, history, and philosophy. Aristotle over Plato.

Apple’s daily in-kind contribution to the Biden campaign. This one is actually a little less one sided than normal, but it’s still pretty blatant.

They almost did win until the case reached the Supreme Court. The same thing might happen here, except that this Supreme Court is even more likely to put an end to any shenanigans.

True. Way too many people, including Trump himself, think of wealth primarily as a zero sum game.

Has anyone asked Joe Biden if he wants to run for re-election in 2024 if he wins? It seems to be an important thing to ask.

I don’t know that Joe even wants to run for re-election. He would be almost 82 years old.

Minor detail, I’m sure he’ll whip out the solution that the entire world has missed for months as soon as he wakes up from his latest nap. Maybe.

He probably means well, but it never occurs to people like that that if they really want to help the little guy, they should instead be investing their money and/or giving it to private charities. They think government should force people, especially the rich, to be charitable.

Who knows what will actually happen. But the longer this awful year drags on, the more convinced I become that our response to the pandemic would have been much better had it happened in 2019 or 2021.

And maybe Joe is a good parent and even good parents sometimes fail with their children. But just because I agree with Aristotle that being a good parent is a good qualification for political leadership, it doesn’t follow that I want them to govern like parents.

That’s exactly where I come out. As a voter, I want the process to be as simple and convenient as reasonably possible consistent with ensuring integrity and fairness. As a citizen, I want the rule of law to reign supreme. The latter is more important.

Most rich people and all rich liberals don’t mind paying higher marginal tax rates because they see it as the cost of keeping poor people at bay and using political connections to enhance their own wealth in the first place. The losers are the people in between.
