A lot of things to learn from this, but it seems like the big issue is simply that the process of doing science is totally incompatible with the news cycle...

Very easy mistake to make too 😨 I've repeatedly screwed up in this precise way: R automatically decides what each column is (numbers, characters, etc.), and it's easy to forget that it won't KNOW that you're using numbers to designate categories unless you tell it.
