How Kansas State blocked out distractions in its first basketball game after the Sunflower Showdown brawl. “It’s in the past now. We just zoned it out. Now it’s time to move forward as a program.” 🦅 ⭐️

Bruce Weber started DaJuan Gordon instead of Cartier Diarra against Alabama, and it seems like that lineup change is here to stay for Kansas State. "It was a pretty smart move." Eagle: Star:

It’s telling that Bruce Weber would rather start a freshman than Cartier Diarra at this point of the season. And it seems like K-State’s new starting lineup is here to stay after tonight’s hard-fought loss against Alabama 🦅 ⭐️

I asked Makol Mawien if he thought he left some plays out there today. His answer:

No one used the words "moral victory" but Bruce Weber and K-State players were far from devastated after today's loss. The Wildcats all sounded hopeful that this was a game they could build off of moving forward.

Bruce Weber said he went with DaJuan Gordon over Cartier Diarra because he thought Gordon would give the Wildcats an early spark. Calls it a smart move.

Three stats that stick out for Kansas State: 1. Makol Mawien had 13 and 12. That's a pretty good game for him, despite blowing several chances at the rim. Also +9 on +/- chart. 2. David Sloan only lasted 12 minutes before fouling out. Yikes. 3. Cartier Diarra took 19(!) shots.

Final score from Tuscaloosa: Alabama 77, Kansas State 74. Give the Wildcats credit for fighting to the end in a difficult road environment, but it's another loss for Bruce Weber's team.

A fun game has broken out in Tuscaloosa. Cartier Diarra is trying to shoot the Wildcats to victory in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.
