This Is Africa 2h
It is with a heavy heart we learnt of the passing away of Kenyan writer, Binyavanga Wainaina, one of Africa's leading writers who set a pace in the literary world. He was blunt & brave, vulnerable & insightful, charming & cheerful.

Ms Kimathi has been on the forefront calling on Kenyans to come together and pull the country’s freedom fighters and their descendant out of abject poverty. She has also called on the Government to step in and help the Mau Mau veterans.

If it was for Dedan Kimathi, we could be still in the British colony protectorate. Kenyans don't appreciate good people but honor corrupt politicians who are greedy, malicious, egocentric and self-centered.

I don't see the importance of Madaraka day if our heroes are not fully settled. It's the matter of commitment and dedication.

It is unfortunate that after sacrificing everything for Kenya to gain independence, Mau Mau veterans ended up languishing in poverty with nowhere to call home.

Sad reality is, Kenyan government is spending beillons on petty programs instead of compensating families that were in the forefront in the fight for independence.

Poor governance right from independence is to blame. Though the Dedan Kimathi Foundation we can change this narrative by ensuring that our heroes get a roof over their heads

Mukami Kimathi is a true fighter. Even though she is very elderly she still has the energy to fight for the other freedom fighters who are living in poverty
