It’s clear to me that Mr. VanDyke can’t be trusted to administer fair and impartial justice as a federal judge. I will be voting no. I urge my colleagues to do the same.

The Senate will vote today on Lawrence VanDyke's nomination to the 9th Circuit. His dangerous views on gun violence and commitment to the gun lobby disqualify him from a lifetime appointment to the bench.

Lawrence VanDyke’s long record of anti-LGBTQ+ beliefs and legal decisions make him unfit to serve as a federal judge in Nevada. 67 of my House colleagues joined me, and in a letter urging and to reject his nomination.

WATCH as I take to the Senate floor in opposition to Lawrence VanDyke’s nomination to serve Nevada on the Ninth Circuit. He’s an unqualified, partisan nominee.

The American Bar Association called Trump nominee Lawrence VanDyke "arrogant, lazy, an ideologue, and lacking in knowledge of the day-to-day practice including procedural rules." Perhaps watching his past oral arguments will help explain why.

Our judiciary should reflect the diversity and values of the American people. Sadly, this is not the case for President Trump’s judicial nominees. So far, of the 55 Circuit Court nominees confirmed, only 11 have been women. Even fewer have been racially diverse.

Judicial nominees like Lawrence VanDyke would take us backwards in civil rights, voting rights, access to health care, and laws that protect consumers, workers, and the environment. Thank you, , for speaking out against his nomination.

“To me, it’s obvious that anyone who actively seeks to demonize parents, or would-be parents, who have struggled with fertility lacks the wisdom, judgment and empathy to serve a lifetime appointment on the federal bench.” -

I'm deeply troubled by what the confirmation of Sarah Pitlyk to a lifetime appointment to the US District Court for the Eastern District of MO could mean for families like mine across the country. I wrote an op-ed about why I’m voting against her:

The Senate is about to vote on Sarah Pitlyk’s nomination to the federal judiciary. Pitlyk’s views on reproductive rights and her opposition to assisted reproduction are extreme and far outside the mainstream. I urge my colleagues to vote no.

Senate Republicans are about to confirm Sarah Pitlyk to a district court in Missouri. She was rated not qualified and has a highly controversial record on reproductive rights. She should not have a lifetime seat on the federal bench. I'll vote against her nomination.

Pitlyk embodies the most disturbing aspects of the Trump admin’s ceaseless mission to degrade the judiciary. Ordinarily this indifference to the truth would disqualify a nominee, but under this admin all that matters is passing their ideological tests.

I will vote against Sarah Pitlyk’s nomination to the district court in Missouri tomorrow. Her lack of qualifications and record of attacking women’s reproductive rights make her entirely unfit to be a federal trial judge. I hope my colleagues will join me.
