I love me some Brainerd too. Nothing like lighting up The Preserve with an 87 and then celebrating at Zorbaz like you won the Masters.

Not sure how far off it was but should be a strong contender for the public list for sure.

I’m incredibly biased, but I think MN (and Wisconsin, too; sigh) has some of the best public golf you can find. But I also think the amount of very good private clubs in MN is underrated too. Looking forward to playing StoneRidge next year! Loved Deacon’s.

Some state lists have more ranked public courses. And it provides a small snapshot of the public offerings available.

I love me a good list. Minnesota friends, what do we think here? [ducks] (FYI I have not played any of these courses — yet! — so am curious of your thoughts.)

Cyber Monday! Grab a GPS watch like I did & you won't regret it. Strap it to your bag, get your yardages and never annoyingly ask playing partners for a number again. The one I mentioned is on sale for $100! (also, our Pro Shop is spend $100, get $20 off)

Here’s Phil thinking through a 127-yard shot the exact same way I would.

I’ve played many rounds with Tim and always noticed his headcover, but never knew its story. Very cool.

In my early days at GOLF, Leonard — good Southerner that he was — would frequently drop by the office and treat penny-pinching editors like myself to lunch at Blue Smoke (NYC bbq joint). At the time, I had no idea what a legend he was. RIP.

The biggest difference between Augusta National in person vs. on TV? That’s always been complicated. My last filing from the Masters, on how things have changed and how they haven’t:

It will forever be in the obligatory list of achievements/random facts graph. “Tiger, 61, about to strike his ceremonial first tee shot on this Masters Thursday, won 5 Masters and 15 majors. He also once signed for a 10 on a hole—the one they call Golden Bell—and still shot 76.”

This Masters victory completes one helluva journey for Dustin Johnson. An appreciation of a thoroughly original superstar:
