India switched to 100% electronic voting machines in 2004. That’s precisely the reason for the quick turnover. Also, there is a designated counting day, which is like 2-3 days after polls close. By then, all arrangements are made for a smooth process.

The EVMs per se are so old-school and disconnected from the internet themselves, that hacking seems extremely difficult. Plus, there’s a federal, non-partisan Election Commission that conducts the voting across the length and breadth of the country, and it commands respect
