Seaboard & Western DC4 at Gander c.1954. Started up Sept 11 1946 was the first all cargo airline to fly the Atlantic. In 1955 it became the first US airline to hire an African-American pilot. See slide show of a S&W DC4 mishap at Gander.

RCAF aircrew giving a debrief on a Uboat attack. RCAF 10BR Sqn, B24s stationed out of Gander during WWII, was responsible for 22 attacks on Uboats, successfully sinking 3, garnering the unofficial nickname of the North Atlantic Squadron.
