“Pro-life” people: Do nothing to protect life for school kids because guns are more important. Do nothing to protect life for prisoners because vengeance is more important. Do nothing to protect life for pregnant women because their obsession with abortion is more important.

From a practical real-world perspective, the only way to tip the balance in favor of banning abortion is if you’re indifferent to the fetuses but you’d like more people who have unwanted pregnancies to die.

This should not even be a controversial statement. You believe in bodily autonomy? Keep abortion legal. You believe life begins at conception and abortion is murder? Keep abortion legal. The answer for the least-bad outcome for all parties is the same either way.

Reminder: If you actually want fewer abortions to happen, make education and contraception more available. The ONLY thing accomplished by making abortion illegal is more death and suffering.

Nonprofits are exempt from federal taxes so they can better contribute to society. Not so their execs can enjoy luxurious lifestyles at the expense of taxpayers. The allegations of self-dealing at the NRA raise questions about whether their tax-exempt status should be revoked.

It sounds bad but enough die that you can’t hand feed them all and since it is already dead you do what you have to. Farmers are pragmatic.
