This is silly, even aside from the defensiveness of manel criticism. Women often participate in distributing Eucharist so this example doesn’t even work. Also, invoking the Catholic Church to combat concerns of sexism? Really? Was Hooters unavailable or something?

I don't stay pressed about taking up space in places that don't want me. I truly deeply believe in the pure genius and incredible talent that I bring to anything I do. I am learning to not expect perfection of myself but I am 100% that BIH. and that is how you raise a girl!

Yup. Lawyers will sometimes tell me they can’t meditate because they could never sit on the floor cross legged. Fortunately, that’s not required!

As lawyers, there are many things that are completely beyond our control. Getting to know the mind, how it works, what makes it tick can be sanity preserving.

There are many reasons for why lawyers should practice mindfulness/meditation. One reason is so that you can begin to notice when the mind is more focused or distracted. This creates the space to choose. What can you do to refocus? Do you need a break?

The other common observation: When I meditate, I feel more stressed or anxious. It’s not that meditation causes ⬆️stress or anxiety but rather, when you sit still, you’re able to observe your inner emotional landscape.

Saying your mind wanders while you meditate is like saying your heart rate goes up when you run. Stick with it. It’s part of the process.

I think when people say, "I can't meditate," what they're really saying is "it's difficult to be alone with my own mind w/o distractions."

I just experienced this phenomenon while on a long drive this morning. The baby was sleeping in the backseat so I wasn't listening to the radio, just having quiet time. Seemingly at random, I got a huge new insight into a tricky procedural motion I'm drafting this week.
