I have. Shot in Wisconsin! I especially like how they set up Cameron Mitchell to have motivation and agency to go find his daughter and then he just disappears til the very end of the movie.

Wait I'm confused. I thought it was a prerequisite that all Universal Monster revivals be embarrassing and terrible, but that Invisible Man trailer is really great. Somebody messed up.

Out of all the original theatrical releases, it’s the only one I really like.

My biggest takeaway from watching a bunch of horror movies this October is that the 90s direct-to-video Amityville sequels are all pretty entertaining!

I honestly wasn’t even aware it got bad reviews. It’s not great or anything but it’s entertaining enough and has fun monster stuff and a lot of atmosphere.

That isn’t a knock against the movie just to be clear. I enjoyed it.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was clearly going for that 80s Amblin tone but it actually reminded me a lot of an Empire Pictures movie. Like Troll or Spellcaster or Cellar Dweller but with a huge budget and good visuals.

Got a new one for the list! A very young John Hawkes is paranoid a killer is loose inside a haunted house. It’s like HauntedWeen but actually good. Had never heard of it before but it’s a gem! John Hawkes slips on pumpkins for several minutes.
