Thanksgiving weekend in Atlanta (granddaughter Maddison and Boyfriend live here), then an overnight with Elizabeth and Stan Dulemba Sunday, in SC, then back to Providence/Mystic with Peter who has a small op on his knee, then back to Hatfield. And boy! are my wings tired.

1of my poems heretoday, tomorrow another: 2 pix book mss rejected,2groups of poems as well. I rejoice-in the writing, in the movement, again if taken. But without joy in writing, it would be a tough job. But I feel privileged to do it. 1st World Problems.

Been off Twitter due to serious book travel, giving lectures, readings, signings, getting ready to teach, and falling in love. Whosh--am exhausted, happy, and ready to rock and roll!

Lovely walk with a friend and his dog in Connecticut along marshes full of shore birds and waders. As someone who has written a lot of books about birds, it's a good reminder to get out more often with field glasses and a friend.

I live in the Pioneer Valley, Mass., an author/illustrator mecca. We probably have per capita the highest concentration of book people in the USA. We talk books, poetry, narrative art round the clock. Two museums dedicated to children's book art--the Eric Carle & Dr. Suess.

Dangers of going to Children's Book Festivals. It's not sitting/standing too long. Nor forgetting to eat. It's the perfect good news/bad news situation. Good news: we sold lots of books. Bad news: signing them aggrevated the arthritis in my right hand which is (for now) unusable.

Am ALMOST over jetlag & settling into writing. I've a number of new projects on my plate, some revisions as well. Several books turned down, but 3 movie projects on the boil. Some new poems taken by journals & three strong contenders for new books to be sold. Cross your fingers.

Looking forward to the fast-paced, always wonderful Chappaqua book festival and hoping to see many friends/fans there. We are usually so busy, we don't even have time to eat lunch or run to the bathroom. But if you come to my signing table, I will ALWAYS have time for you!
