'Tis the season -- Right near Halloween every year, I repost this little thing I wrote about a wonderously strange & creepy few moments for me & my daughter a long time ago. (So long ago that the toddler in this story just turned 18!)

If you need a one hour and twenty-five minute antidote for 2020, you could do worse than the documentary film, My Octopus Teacher. I feel like my soul has had a bath.

Oh wow. I just realized that I served breakfast for the last time to a child of mine who is still, well, a child. My youngest goes from minor to major tomorrow. Wow.

The ultra realistically textured and copious spewing in shows (and movies) so that we, the poor innocent audience trying to have our evening snack, can really appreciate the lack of nuance in a properly enthusiastic puke.

I'm watching TV, and I swear if I never see another mouthful of Van Gogh-quality prop vomit, it will be way too soon.

That's terrible. I know a number of people who just get their asses kicked by migraines. So glad you don't have that anymore!

I'm very fortunate. I don't get pain with mine. I just get the weird light show and feel a little off for a few hours. Only one time was there any pain, and even then, it's clearly not what other people suffer.

I won't know until tomorrow (and the rapid test is mostly useless, anyway) but it's just a pre-procedure thing for a minor thing I have to take care of in a few days.

I'm pretty fortunate in that these don't come with any pain, except once. And it was a weird headache, to be sure, but not nearly what other people experience with migraines. I just get a bizarre light show and feel a little off. Today, my head was numb four a couple of hours.

Bite your tongue, Mr. Noakes. And I also got a COVID test today -- and voted. : )

So in the past 24 hours, I've had food poisoning and a spectacularly kaleidoscopic ocular migraine. If I eat these now, will I get super powers?

I love these. The earliest one I can remember with no Googling is a terrblewonderful horror film from the 80s with Parker Stevenson, called This House Possessed. I can only thank you for making me remember that. : )

Good thoughts for Emma Straub's dad, and to her and her family, and also, she is spot on here. Writers, please write all you can. We need your stories.
