Point very well made Dee.Retailers continue to proudly advertise their goal of driving food prices down for THEIR customers.Consumers take this for granted.Unless retailer power is tackled there’s no room for organic expansion.Pls take note . Food must have a value.

Hope he breeds well for you Joe. He was one of our favourites all year and out of two great family lines - Carriganeela Cracker and N8 Didier. No harm having a half brother to the Premier Sale Champion either. Best of luck with him.

The idea that a farmer can invite an expert onto their farm to consult with and identify pressure points and learn where even small practical changes can help to protect and improve water quality is good. Should be made available to all farmers who’s land borders water courses.

Farmers were apprehensive when ASSAP was rolled out first in Kilkenny. They have been quick to realise it’s a really positive development -non confrontational, voluntary, informative and helpful - it sets a new template for engagement with farmers on environmental issues.

"Out of the crooked timber of humanity, no straight thing was ever made" -beautiful words by Kant. Humans are complex. We owe it to each other to slow down, actively listen to those we disagree with, hear where they are coming from and agree or disagree with integrity and grace.

Very open and interesting exchange of views guys. I think it highlights the main problem with social media - no one else wanted to get involved!! Yet if you two were fireing vile and horrific abuse at one another you’d have loads of people wanting to get stuck in and take sides.

The proposal from on a grass-fed beef standard and Protected Geographical Indication needs further discussion with farmers. Any new initiative has to reward farmers.

You’re on a good deal there Kieran. The 20.5 kg limit is a killer if you have good lambs.

Unfortunately Owen I’m old enough to remember a time when the wool was a great little earner and highly valued. A fleeces value could cover the cost of keeping the ewe on the farm for the year!! We live 3 miles from a rural town that once had 4 wool merchants- now only one left

Doesn’t seem to be a future for wool unfortunately. Tbf the British Wool Board has tried just about everything to promote and find markets over last 10 yrs and can’t make progress. Annoying ppl get so exercised about plastic and we can’t find some use for this natural product.

If the current is powerful enough then they’ll learn very quickly and you’ll have no problem. I reckon the ewes monitor the power of the current by watching the lambs experiment with the fence!! 🐑⚡️🔥

Getting grass-seeds in today in perfect conditions. Thinking as I often do if only I had a € for every stone I’ve picked in my lifetime !! I mightn’t be much happier but I’d be a lot richer. Feels like I’ve picked a million stones 😳🤔
