I'm yet to speak to a single EU diplomat or official who thinks the economic fallout for the UK from Brexit will be anywhere near as bad as many British commentators predict. They think it's unnecessary self-harm, but the phrase 'not the end of the world' crops up over and over.

Terrible to read that Cyrille Regis has passed away aged just 59. A fantastically exciting player who channeled the terrible racist abuse hurled at him, into great footballing ability. Condolences to his friends and family.

Very sorry to learn of the passing of Rick Jolly, the naval surgeon who ran the "Red & Green life machine" field hospital in San Carlos Bay during the Falklands war. Saving many wounded British & Argentinian servicemen. My condolences to his family.

Great result for today, moving us up to 11th. Many congratulations to David Moyes, on becoming only the fourth premiership manager to reach 200 winning matches.

My thanks to Lorna Bailey for the chat on today's breakfast show, about why I oppose a second referendum, as well as discussing my own busy work schedule as an active MEP.

In memory of all the who paid the ultimate price to feed our nation. The loss, 50 years ago today of the St Romanus, was the first of three Hull trawlers to sink or capsize in Jan and Feb 1968. May all their souls rest in peace, including my brother, Keith Hookem, 19.

Pleased by HMG's commitment on , (albeit with a distant timeframe). As a start, supermarkets & grocers should start moving towards the paper bags of yesteryear. They worked perfectly well, & with advances in recycled paper, will be more far more eco friendly.

EU's close to allowing continuation & expansion of Electric Pulse fishing to appease EU fishing companies & their quislings in Britain. Should ban pulse fishing post-Brexit until proved not to be responsible for problems in areas it's used?

Last week a constituent who voted remain, told me that, in view of the behaviour of the EU since the vote, in relation to the negotiations, she wish she'd voted leave. A clear pattern of acceptance is now emerging, as underlined here, by Marcus Wareing.
