GOP Congress will do nothing. I doubt House would even impeach which would take 25 Rs to stand up and basically end their careers much less Senate mustering 2/3 for conviction. Too many assume this will be like Watergate but GOP is Trumps now, there is no resistance left.

It does which is why the lawyers who keep reflecting back to Watergate which isn't really comparable are kidding themselves about this. We are relying on the ethics and moral backbone of Rubio, Cruz, Cornyn, McConnell, Hatch, Grassley etc. In short we're completely screwed.

Considering he is the worst president in history and he's managed this feat in only 1 year, the media has some explaining to do about that 10% favorable coverage. I do like the way you had to omit Fox to get the % though since lying propaganda shouldn't be counted as news.

This is one of the most disgusting venal things we've seen in 2017 and that is saying something. So the GOP is now ok with open vote buying without even a fig leaf of excuse. So much for making an example of Menendez's shoddy ethics.

He thinks about all of this as a reality TV show, he wants the ‘surprise’ when he comes up with whatever flimsy excuse he will use next weekend, he won’t do it with Congress in town. He’ll then do something stupid and outrageous to distract because the media really is that dumb.

Of course he didn’t, admitting that he’s planning to do it would detract from the act when he fires Rosenstien and Mueller for whatever pretext he comes up with. He thinks entirely in reality TV terms, he doesn’t want to reveal the “surprise” ahead of time.

That was 6 months ago when it looked like some in GOP had spines. Given how much GOP has become party of Trump since then it’s hard to believe that Trump will listen to his advisers who counsel caution, he’ll look at Rubio, Cruz, Cornyn and the rest and decide they won’t resist.

Your assumptions are based on a false predicate of there being no additional risk to Trump of investigation continuing which seems just wrong. The non stop lying and attempts to undermine Mueller likely indicate Trump knows there is huge risk in letting Mueller continue to dig.

Misleading to assume that Trumps lawyers would be informed about decision to fire Mueller, that would be need to know and they are hardly known for discretion or closeness to Trump. His lawyers are known for being delusional about this wrapping up soon which seems very unlikely.

Trump doesn't hear or see those voices at all (it's not like he reads a lot) but he mainlines 8 hours of Fox insanity and lies everyday. HJC members and Gowdy who are definitely on Trumps side and to a degree confidence signaling they expect McCabe to be fired this week as well

Come on do better. It's already been credibly established yesterday that this assertion is completely false as a factual matter and as a matter of law so why give Trump's legal team and his partisans in Congress the gift of this headline when you know it isn't true?

If you think Paul Ryan is considering doing something for reasons of common decency it is just you projecting, there is 0 I mean zero evidence Paul Ryan has any decency whatsoever.

Get real, they'd just lie. Need to check if the signup process for the emails requires clicking the disclaimer, seems incrediblely likely that it does.

Come on Reuters, don't publish it with that lede given that we already know its bunk since GSA clearly indicated those accounts had no expectation of privacy from law enforcement.

Its not a legal argument, it's a political smokescreen and its getting full play in right wing media which is ignoring all the legal details that make it a ridiculous claim like GSA clear disclaimer about no expectation of privacy from law enforcement.

Now that is an interesting political science question, how susceptible to overthrow is a full Stalinist regime in crackdown mode? Dying to see a real answer on this from someone who knows the NK regime.
