Just in case you haven't seen it yourself or didn't want to retweet it from some shitty nazi defender, here's Tim Schafer saying "Fuck white supremacists" at GDC

Seeing the reaction to The Outer Worlds being an Epic/MS store exclusive, and having talked with many friends at Epic/Valve/Microsoft Games this week.. I ask folks to remember that real people work at all these places. We can try to be better about disagreeing civilly.

I feel like an idiot, I never realized you were CD on this! 10/10, would crawl around my computer room behind a virtual half-wall desperately looking for a pair of digital scissors to fend off inevitable doom again

Badass! (And psst, for Zelle's followers that don't get the reference - ) I'm actually really pleased with how many women in the book I know or have worked with :)

rejecting it might have little to do with the findings, and more to do with the impact on the dev's schedule or prioritization efforts. Shipping games is hard, humans are fallible, and sometimes "If this is wrong, I don't have to go to change all these other things" wins the day

Findings that hit teflon-devs are often a result of a lack of buy-in, so addressing that is important. Do the devs think you had the wrong players, the wrong setup, or do they just not believe in player feedback? (it happens, even with talented devs) Also consider though that..

Oh, research 'em for sure! Both the XB1 and PS4 controllers had lots of research, and both are great. No surprise this one does too :) Tons of folks utterly love the N64 controller, which I find flabbergasting, but We're Not The User :)

Games User Research Mar 19
It can be helpful to leverage researchers on a team to obtain more complete feedback. Some participants feel comfortable opening up emotionally or on topics that may threaten player ego with female researchers

This is my favorite slide from this year's salary study, showing a relationship between organizational UX maturity and wages. Between your next two usability studies perhaps take some time to consider how you can improve UX maturity in your workplace.

Three great days in SF, attending , , and most importantly, having a hundred great conversations with folks across the spectrum of games. Always great to hear how colleagues in other spaces tackled challenges - so many of them are common. Montreal next year!
