Very interesting...thank you for this information...this will be passed on to the modeling team. Can you confirm they were the models used on the original show?

Yes, Tenmille Maunsel coaches were used in the classic series.

Most of the rolling stock used in the model series was made from Tenmille kits. You can still find kits for them if you need references.

They aren't THE models used during filming, but it's the same kit and body used to make them.

There were slight modifications made to the kits - but they were the same used in the original few series. Main problem with the coaches at the moment is how thin they are - compare Gordon to the original models vs now.

If I may add on to this point about scale, could James have his overall size tweaked in time? He used to be exactly the same height as Edward, but since the thirteenth season he seems a bit... well, gigantic! Proportionally he looks spot on, just... big! 🙂

Anytime. These are not screen-used, but they are the *exact* Tenmille kits used for the Express. I can also provide length, but there are some notes on length: Season 1 coaches were sectioned shorter (2 doors and windows worth) from the center... 1/2

2/3 ...while Season 3's red coaches were cut short as well, but from the ends. These were used alongside the full-length coaches through Season 4. By Season 5, all coaches became based on the Season 3 cut-down models... 2/3

3/3 ...and Season 6 through 12 used resin *replicas* of the Tenmilles, with the same basic proportions. These resin cars provided the basis from which the computer-generated meshes were created. They're mostly correct except for their width.

One extra detail to add to that, given Luke Ryan's comparison shot: The Season 2-3 coaches had an extra sliver of wood between the bogie and the chassis which raised them up abnormally high. The shortened coaches did not receive this treatment.
