100 meter freestyle swimming progress: Nov 30th. Day 1. 8 minutes. No idea what I'm doing. Lifeguard on edge of seat. Dec 30th. Got goggles and a little technique. 4 minutes Jan 30th. Better technique and more practice. 2 minutes 20 seconds. Goal: 1:45 by December

I've only spent 4 days on kick turns so far, but yes I think this is the key. I'm making major improvements on it.

Former competitive swimmer/beach lifeguard/open water swimmer here. Some tips/queues that help me and maybe will help you: High elbows out of the water, closed fingers (think paddle) in the water. No more than 20 strokes per 25yd length (I average 14-16). Push off that wall and

streeeeamline! Biceps to ears and hands on top of each other. As tempting as it is, don’t breathe on the first stroke off the wall - it’s inefficient. Learn to keep your head in the water (water should be at your hairline) and breathe on both sides. Swimming is all technique.
