They reckon that the furlough scheme will have cost £70 BILLION by October. Perspective? They bailed out the banks with cash and guarantees to the tune of £1,300 billion. They want to spend over £200bn on a weapon we wont use (Trident) and HS2 is estimated to be over £100bn.

Interesting headline figure, but think it was only about £140bn that UK government cash that was used. Still twice what furloughing costs. The rest, around £1 trillion was financial guarantees provided to investors to restore confidence.

Wonder if they’ll bring a furlough scheme in when no deal Brexit kicks in?

Nothing bad will be attributed to Brexit, ever. It will ALL be down to the virus, guaranteed. Brexit would have been a roaring success if it weren't for this pesky virus. The people who know that to be untrue secretly can't believe their luck.

Bloomberg said the cost of the UK's vote to leave the EU had already reached £130 billion. A further £70 billion is likely to be added by the end of 2020, the economist Dan Hanson found. One way of stabilizing our economy Sunak - Stop or delay Brexit

If the bank bail out cost £1300 billion and led to 10 years of Austerity, then the Furlough at 70 Billion(by October) will mean Austerity for just 6 months.....

Yes but the very idea of paying people state money is deeply offensive to their ingrained ideology. They will be desperate to make us pay for it as quickly and as painfully as possible.
