Being assaulted doesn't mean spanking, which isn't assault, is bad. I had practically the same argument with someone else on here only she thought changing a babies diaper was assault.

Spanking is the intentional act of inflicting pain, not in self defense. It's a form of torture: inflicting pain as a punishment or coercion. Simple restraint until danger passes will suffice. Changing a diaper is not intended to harm. It's taking care of a biological need.

Spanking is not intended to do harm. It's taking care of an educational need. What you believe is the same kind of crazy, albeit to a different degree, as what she believes.

I used "harm" in reference to diapers, not spanking. Spanking is intended to inflict pain. If it wasn't, it wouldn't be coercive enough to be effective. Hugs aren't spanking since they don't inflict pain. Diapers are not intended to inflict pain. I can't speak for her.

Since you were beat, you can't speak for anyone who wasn't. There is a vast difference between spankings and beatings that your experience precludes you from seeing.

It isn't an argument from experience but an argument from logic and principle. If spanking did not inflict pain, even a small amount, it would be as effective as a hug. Anecdotes, which you're gravitating towards, make for poor arguments.

You keep moving back. I said it wasn't assault. I didn't say it didn't hurt. Vacinations are painful. Do you advocate against those as well?

Correct spankings hurt, as do vaccines. But vaccine pain is unavoidable while spanking pain isn't. You can childproof a home; lock up knives, plug up sockets, remove stove knobs. It would also be unethical to administer a more painful vaccine if a less painful one is available.

And I suppose the only way I'm qualified to report someone to the cops for slapping me a single time is if I've never been beaten before in my life? These are nonsensical arguments. I'm not discussing anecdotes here. You guys are.
