As a recent writer in ‘Horizon’ put it, we are in a world which is becoming as absurd as Kafka’s world. Only our relation to it is not the same as that of Kafka’s heroes. We are not yet resigned to absurdity- and our only salvation lies in not becoming resigned.

Glad to have a letter in setting straight Brigid Brophy’s critical role in UK Public Lending Right. Brophy deserves recognition for her scheme which benefits authors whose books are borrowed from public libraries.
