: Today, The Strong Museum and its parking lot structure now occupy the site where several residences were demolished due to Inner Loop construction. Currently, the Museum is now investing in building a new neighborhood where the Inner Loop was removed.

Project Updates: A highlight of the 2nd TAC Meeting presentation featured the importance of current Traffic & Crash Data that indicated from 2014-2019 out of approximately 2,400 traffic crashes within the City of Rochester,1,400 occurred within the area alone.

Named after the University of Rochester’s first president, Martin Brewer Anderson— a large portion of Anderson Park was demolished for construction of the Inner Loop. Anderson Park was home to public gatherings, such as annual Christmas Celebrations.

: Featured in the Democrat & Chronicle Newspaper in 1953, Carhart’s Photo Service and Camera Shop building was demolished to make way for Inner Loop construction. This family business was once the largest photo developer in Western New York.

In 1991, the City of Rochester completed the Vision 2000 Plan: A Plan for Downtown. In an effort to re-connect the City Center to the surrounding communities, the Plan specifically called for the removal of the southeastern portion of the Inner Loop.
