Also, I want to take this time to remind everyone when it comes to emergency evacuations, the standard operating procedure is generally to leave physically disabled kids/ppl in the building. Many schools don’t practice with disabled students and notify us of drills.

My high school had a drill once with me there. Due to the stress and the noise of the alarm, I asked to sit in the office for it. I did that because I knew the situation could make me faint and didn't want to hit my head (I had just gotten out of brain surgery by a few months)

And well, my counsoler forgot I was there. After 30 minutes, I asked to lay down on the couch in their breakroom. Couldn't move because my heart rate was going crazy and it was too dangerous... But after 2 hours, they forced me to move anyway. I still wasn't ok.

I believe everyone on this thread, but I just want to say that every school where I've worked has included every child in drills, although there was one school where I had to take a wheelchair user on a less direct route for intruder drills.

This may be more and more true, but I think a majority of facilities are unprepared when it comes to evacuating disabled people.
