This week is the anniversary of the Surrender at Appomattox, which effectively ended the Civil War. We will look at IU's connections to that surrender (on both sides). Check the YouTube info for a free upcoming class on IU in the Civil War.

This week's history briefing: Lettie Iva Wadsworth - the first known woman student veteran at IU. She served two tours in WWI (1 British, 1 American) and also served as campus nurse (while a student) during a second wave of the Spanish Flu.

During WWII, IU banned Japanese Americans from enrolling. It was Japanese Americans veterans that helped break the ban!
