Words can’t express what this endorsement means to me. Dr. Melina Abdullah is one of the great civil rights leaders of our time, and I’m honored and humbled to have her support to become LA County’s next Supervisor.

The charges announced today in the Breonna Taylor killing reinforce how far we have to go as a country to ensure equal justice for all our people. This is not enough.

A great morning in Gardena supplying food boxes to those in need. We’ve delivered more than a million pounds of food since the -19 crisis began. Special thank you to Mayor Cerda & Councilmembers Mark Henderson, Art Kaskanian, & Paulette Francis for helping make it happen!

My favorite story: During his final year of law school, her husband was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Ruth organized his class notes & typed his final paper, all while dealing with her own work & taking care of a 3-year-old. Her husband graduated on time with honors.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg‘s passing marks an incredibly sad day in one of the toughest year’s in our nation’s history. will go down in history as a pioneer & one of the greatest champions for gender equality of all-time. She was tough as nails & fought until the very end.

Before Brown v. Board, there was Mendez v. Westminster and as a result CA became the first state to desegregate its schools. Sylvia Mendez paved the way for those who look like me to have an opportunity for a great education, regardless of skin color.

When COVID19 struck our community, I acted quickly to deliver to our most vulnerable residents. That's why leaders across Los Angeles support me to become the next LA County Supervisor. They know that I am the leader we need on the frontlines during a crisis.

The LASD is long overdue for citizen driven reform. But in order to achieve true change, we cannot celebrate any act of violence, we must celebrate each other, celebrate our community and come together in the name of compassion, hope and justice. Today, we need peace.

I understand the pain and neglect that many communities are feeling. But violence is never the answer. What happened last night only serves to divide us further.

From Andrés Guardado, to Dijon Kizee, to these young deputies lying in critical care in a hospital room right now, it is undeniable that there is overwhelming pain in our community.

The 9/11 attacks changed the world with consequences we continue to confront to this day. We can never forget the lives lost or the brave first responders who risked it all. Today reminds me of the great importance of coming together in times of crisis to overcome & rise above.
