Question for the nucleic acid detection people. Is PCR still the go-to way to detect low amounts of viral RNA? I somehow thought the more sensitive way would be to use a variant of single-molecule RNA FISH.

That's one of the perks of being a PI... you can just randomly say "did you do the thing!?" and researchers will just tell you about their most recent experiment
