I'm pretty tired of the narrative that middle class should cut back on air travel, when the wealthy fly privately, excessively and often, whilst the rest of us are packed like sardines for the occasional holiday.

Remember when Kanye and DJ Khaled met via private jets to exchange a pair of Yeezy shoes?!

...basically why I don’t want to hear media/corp drone on about _my_ obligations to save the planet, which curiously enough always imply doing something unnatural, like using non-existing infrastructure and footing the bill for mistakes made by folks on yachts. It’s not sincere.

Precisely, corporations and the wealthy have been lobbying against environmentally friendly infrastructure, so we must go-off grid to save the world? Despite the fact that's it's been proven actions taken by the middle-class are not effective relative to corporate action?

hear, hear.. I do wish there was an environmentally-friendly way to fly, though. This seems like one area in which we are deeply dependent on fossil fuels (vs. say, trains)

Obviously this would be ideal, but I think it's ridiculous that I'm being told to no longer travel, whilst the rich are flying down the street.

Articles like that are corporate- friendly (and perhaps funded). Corporate emissions are extreme and not criticized newrly as much as they should be. Shifting the blame on everyday people is a classic and effective technique
