So I haven’t written a blog in a few weeks and my first one this month is a mini rant about professionalism 🤦🏽‍♀️. Be interesting to hear your thoughts on this:

I remember that post and scrolled past it because the response you gave was perfect. I agree that sometimes people think employee engagement and IC can be photocopied, mirrored or done in a copycat cowboy style lifting strategy or tactics from one company to another willy nilly.

You’re not overreacting. I’m a believer in Karma, being kind and sharing costs nothing but has the capacity to repay in an invaluable way. Money is important but somethings are more meaningful. “Society grows when old men plan trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit.”

Before I respond to someone on , I check their stream to understand their tone, sentiment and engagement motivation. If I see any indication of trolling, negativity, overselling, misinformation or inappropriate content, I will not engage. Your digital exhaust matters.

My issue was I used my full name Harriet and someone else used Hattie. This person chose to call me Hattie even though I always said I was Harriet. It was so disempowering because I had to correct in front a new boss and colleague making me look awful. It was part of why I left.

I reached a point in one job where if I was called ‘Harriet’ it was a miracle. I have some strong feelings about this so won’t say anymore. It’s well documented.
