I’ve reviewed over 750 PR’s at AWS. As my team’s tech lead I provide insightful feedback and enforce a high code quality bar. But as a jr engineer I couldn’t review code. I didn’t know where to start, what to look for or how to comment. Here’s how I review PR’s. 🧵 👇

If 60% of your code reviews do not have any comments other than LGTM, do you think that's a good or a bad sign?

Playing around with Notion - looks like I can effectively transform it into Jira and Confluence. Also supported: scheduling alert and ‘/‘ for commands 💯💯💯

I finally had time to reflect on and as someone who has worked on tech policy issues throughout my career, had many, many thoughts. 🧵 (The following are entirely my personal views and don't in any way reflect those of my employers past or present.)

What matters in note-taking is not the quantity of ideas, but the density of insights It's easier to maintain high density if you take fewer notes The fewer notes you take, the better

If you want to spread an idea, write an essay that makes it easy to understand. If you want to spread an action, build a tool that makes it easy to do.

In video meetings it's a hassle to unmute just to say one word especially if someone else is speaking. I created a video lens that uses hand gestures to show comic-book style messages instead. So far it's been pretty fun!

UX folks, how important is learning about non-UX topics at your company? Topics like ethics, finance, business frameworks, management, and strategy. Would you like to see these topics part of the learning and development of your UX team?

The busier life gets, the more of your time needs to be spent doing "meta-work" (the work of defining what needs to be done, how to do it, by when, and by who) Most people do the opposite and drop the meta-work, which is like trying to find your destination by driving very fast

A student just pointed out to me that Zoom seems to learn who speaks the most and then keeps them in the top participant boxes, making them consistently visible to me and rendering the rest of the (50 person) invisible. I hate this--anyone know how to change it?
