The Governor knows this video is 20 months old. But he’ll do and say anything to pick on the poor, the homeless, or even a 7 year old LGBTQ child earlier this week. We need a Governor who isn’t a propagandist and a bully.

This video is years old. A policy of not treating mental health issues unless a person can pay for the treatment is in part to blame for the epidemic of homelessness. All Austin did was stop sweeping it under the rug by forcing these people to hide in the woods and under bridges.

Since it’s two years old, the policies that allowed this to happen were treating homelessness as a crime and periodically locking our most vulnerable fellow citizens in jail for the crime of being poor, alone, addicted, mentally ill, or all of the above. Where’s your compassion??

Imagine if our whole country decriminalized being homeless as Austin has, so that the homeless didn’t have to overwhelm a select few cities? Then imagine we simultaneously had universal mental healthcare to help these folks? Wouldn’t that be the better solution?

Lets protect less boutique neighborhoods & citizens too, Governor. State government policy out of Austin’s has been exposing citizens to countless. Industrial accidents, fires and toxins this year because of lax state regulation & monitoring.
