Quick update- change of plans. The Gros Ventre Road will not be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, September 25 as planned. The road will be closed Wednesday, September 26, 9am-3pm. This is part of the Gros Ventre Roundabout construction.

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions go into effect tomorrow, Saturday, September 22. Within Grand Teton National Park, this is basically status quo, as fires are only allowed within park designated and installed fire rings/grills. Please be safe with fire. Info:

Monitoring of the Leigh CYN Fire continues to show minimal smoke on the fire area. Today, all backcountry campsites that were closed due to the fire, have now reopened. Teton Interagency Fire continues to monitor the 3.5 acre fire. Smoke may still be visible in the area.

3. Completely extinguish a campfire or warming fire when leaving the site, 4. Maintain vehicles & trailers properly so nothing is throwing a spark 5. Do not drive through or park on dry grass or vegetation, & Practice fire-safe target shooting (5/5)

Key responsibilities include: 1. Make sure it is legal to have a campfire or warming fire 2. Start & maintain a campfire or warming fire properly & always have a shovel & water available (4/5)

The possibility of human-caused fires increases greatly. Although the nights are cold, fire danger is very high. Everyone, especially hunters, are reminded to be responsible with fire & have situational awareness regarding anything that may spark a fire. (3/5)

Since September 12, a “red flag warning” has been issued daily for the Teton Interagency Dispatch area and this has been the driving force behind the large fire growth seen on the Roosevelt and Marten Fires recently. (2/5)

PLEASE Be Responsible with Fire! Conditions on the Bridger-Teton National Forest, Grand Teton National Park, & National Elk Refuge, as well as across Teton, Sublette and Lincoln Counties are dry, with little moisture received since late August. Info: (1/5)

On weekdays from Mon, Sept 24 through Fri, Oct 5, travelers in the construction area should expect sporadic daytime delays exceeding 15 mins. Construction work during this time will include work on Sagebrush Drive & south of the roundabout. Info: (4/4)

Visitors & local residents who wish to access the community of Kelly, Gros Ventre Campground, or adjacent areas are encouraged to use the Antelope Flats Rd detour during this time. Roadside signs in the area will communicate these changes and are updated on a daily basis. (3/4)

The Gros Ventre Rd from the JCT with US HWY 26/89/191 to Gros Ventre Campground will close to all travelers from 9AM to 3PM on Tue, Sept. 25 through Thur, Sept. 27. There will also be 15-min daytime traffic delays on Gros Ventre Rd before 9AM & after 3PM during this time. (2/4)

Construction work on the Gros Ventre Roundabout & other safety improvements along US HWY 26/89/191 in Grand Teton is progressing. Work includes paving the connection of the roundabout to the Gros Ventre Rd & creating an eastern splitter island. Info (1/4)

Teton Interagency Firefighters continue to monitor the Leigh CYN Fire in Grand Teton, located about 1 mile above Leigh CYN on the west side of Leigh Lake. No growth has been identified on the fire, estimated at 3.5 acres. Cause of the fire is unknown. Info

On Sun, 9/16, the Leigh Canyon Fire was much less visible. The fire remains at an estimated 3.5 acres in size, showing minimal growth despite being under red flag conditions a 2nd day in a row. Teton Interagency Firefighters are actively monitoring. Info:

Teton Interagency firefighters responded to the Leigh Cyn Fire Sat. after reports of smoke in the area. Fire management staff are monitoring the fire & assessing management options for the long term management of the fire. The fire cause is unknown. Info

Volunteers are invited to join park staff to work on the Taggart Lake trail from 10AM to 2PM on Sat., Sept. 22. Those interested in volunteering should register by contacting Angela Timby at (307) 739-3379 or angela_timby@nps.gov in order for tools and vehicles to be coordinated.
