Grand Teton hosted an estimated 710,198 recreation visits in August 2020, a 1.2% increase compared to Aug 2019. Park stats show that Aug 2020 saw the 2nd highest number of rec visits on record for the month of August, eclipsed only by August 2017. Info:

(3/3) Visitors wishing to access Cascade Canyon on horseback should access the west side of Jenny Lake from the south. The trail around String Lake will remain open for horse travel.

(2/3) Hikers will be able to access the west side of Jenny Lake and Cascade Canyon from the String Lake parking area as reroutes will allow for pedestrian travel through the area.

(1/3) The Jenny Lakeshore Trail from the String Lake parking area to the Cascade Canyon horse trail will be closed to horse traffic beginning now through mid-September. Park staff will be replacing bridges on portions of the trail.

Grand Teton National Park along with the are working to improve sections of the Teton Crest Trail. There will be intermittent 30-minute closures near the summit of Hurricane Pass between August 19-24 and September 3-8.

Teton Interagency fire managers announce the fire danger rating has been elevated to very high for Grand Teton National Park, the Bridger-Teton National Forest, & the National Elk Refuge. Everyone is asked to practice heightened fire safety at all times.

The unpaved sect of Moose-Wilson Rd will be temp closed for dust abatement 4AM Tue 8/25 & will reopen 8AM Thur 8/27. In addition, the north sect of M-W Rd will be closed Wed 8/26, 6AM-12PM while crews repair rd surface failure south of Sawmill Pond. Info:

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning which will be in effect from noon to 10 pm. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, & warm temps can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Winds could gust up to 20 mph. Please be extremely cautious with fire
