People in the central belt were maybe surprised to see intense helicopter activity by the British Army last week as they exercised in densely populated areas in both daylight and darkness. These are preparations for civil unrest when the no deal Brexit takes effect.

I am a pilot and I get updates every day on restricted airspace. I do have contacts within the military and these latest exercises are extraordinary. It is unknown to train live over densely populated areas, especially landind in public areas in darkness. Not officially announced

Seriously, have you got anything other than, folk were surprised and I'm a pilot. If you have any real proof then put it out there instead of putting out fear.

Attack helicopters exercising over highly populated areas is not routine, in fact totally unknown. The only reason to live train in an urban environment on this scale is to operate in it. If you think that something of this nature is 'normal' then fine. I don't.

Yes. There is no other reason for training outwith a CAA designated training area, especially over densely populated urban zones if not preparing to operate in these environments for real. Incredible to think that this is happening here in 2018.

I’m unhappy with the use of the word ‘when’ in your report, Graeme. Unless you know something we don’t, I’m sure we’d all be much happier if you could use the word ‘if’ about a no-deal Brexit in future! After all, even May admitted there were three choices, no Brexit being one.

I too hope that a hard Brexit is avoided. However, the tweet regards the scenario for which the British Army is exercising low over dense urban areas (not training areas), and is most certainly for tactics and terrain familiarisation. These are preparations for civil control.
