President Trump’s immigration policies are immoral, and these Rhode Islanders were exercising their constitutional right to protest. I am in communication with RI State Police Colonel Jim Manni regarding the events of last night, and we are committed to a full investigation.

I share the outrage Rhode Islanders are feeling about the incident depicted in the video at the Wyatt Detention Center. Our state and our nation were built on the idea that everyone has a right to express their opinion publicly and peacefully.

It can take decades for victims of sexual abuse to not only come to terms with what happened to them, but also to name their abuser and seek justice. Today, I am proud to sign a bill that gives survivors the time they need to take action.

I am heartbroken that 29 more people have lost their lives in two mass shootings this weekend. I’m praying for El Paso and Dayton, but these tragedies continue to make it clearer than ever that we need change. It is well past time to take action against gun violence.

For too long, hair braiders were burdened with training and licensing requirements. The bill I signed today removes regulations and makes it easier to do business in RI. I’m grateful for the advocates who’ve fought for this for years, especially Rep. Williams & Sen. Quezada.
