51 counties reached ’s warning level—that’s half of the counties in Illinois. I see people growing tired, but now isn’t the time to give in. No one wants full hospitals for the holidays. We can prevent that terrible tragedy if we go .

Dr. Ezike is superwoman. The people of the state of Illinois are her patients. Every single day, she’s looking out for YOU and your family. Let’s show some compassion by listening to what the doctor says.

I’m really glad I got to join Donnell today in touring The Woodlawn. The $20,000 BIG grant they received has helped pivot operations to support more socially distanced dining and helped it stay on its feet. Our 2nd round of funding is open now—apply here:

Following public health recommendations — especially wearing a mask in public — will bring our numbers down, save our economy, and let more of our kids go to school, getting us as close to “normal” as we can be until we’re through this.

What we do today – October 23 – will determine how many cases we have and what our hospitals will look like on Halloween, just 8 days from now. And at Thanksgiving, just 34 days from now.

We’ve seen upward movement in our COVID-19 data for each of the last five days. As of Monday, only one region of our eleven regions had been moved into increased mitigations of our resurgence plan. Today, that number is up to four regions.

More than 22,000 Illinoisans left an estimated $10 million on the table in tax credits. You deserve your fair share.    If you're eligible, but haven't claimed your state Earned Income Credit, will be reaching out to help you get what's yours.

Some great news: Illinois is now averaging over 70,000 tests per day, and we've done more than 7 million total tests since the beginning of the pandemic. Here in Illinois, there is a test available to you at no cost. Find the testing center nearest you at

COVID-19 has changed life for all of us. But even in a pandemic, we must invest in our transportation systems to create jobs, not just in the building of these projects, but in the confidence it gives businesses to invest their long-term capital to create more jobs in Illinois.

This highway saw $67 million worth of drainage upgrades, bridge repairs, and resurfacing. Best of all, we got this project done in record time – months instead of years – saving taxpayer money and protecting drivers and workers alike by strategically closing the road for work.

Today we get to celebrate wrapping up work on I-255. It’s investments like the rehabilitation of I-255, which sees about 55,000 vehicles a day, that will extend our state’s leadership as a multi-modal transportation hub, improving local bridges and keeping our roadways safe.

When I ran for governor, I promised to pass a robust capital bill to fix our roads and bridges across the state to create jobs and grow our economy. Last year we created the bipartisan Rebuild Illinois capital plan–the largest infrastructure investment in our state’s history.

So as colder weather comes upon us–and brings flu season along with it–it’s imperative that we take extra caution and extra care. Because at the end of the day, this is bigger than you. This is about all of us, and the communities we call home. We have to take care of each other.

Both Region 1, bordering Wisconsin and Iowa, and Region 4, here next to Missouri, carry the additional responsibility of navigating a situation where the massive surge of cases in our neighboring states will continue to have a spillover effect. There is no easy fix.

Starting Sunday, October 25, northwestern Illinois will face additional mitigations, such as a tighter gathering cap of 10 individuals instead of 25, and new table caps of 6 instead of 10 when eating out. You can read the new Tier 2 rules here:
