This morning I met Esther Walker of Prairie Village, who used charcoal, pastel, acrylic, Sharpie, clay and twine to recreate the official seal of the State of Kansas when she was just 10 years old. It is a privilege to display this beautiful work of art here in the Statehouse.

After the Cedar Crest tree was delivered this morning, we surprised Larry Biles, state forester, with a reception celebrating his retirement. The tree delivery was Larry's last official duty as forester. Thank you, Larry, for your many years of hard work and dedication to Kansas.

This morning I was proud to carry on the longstanding tradition of receiving the beautiful Christmas tree and wreath for Cedar Crest. I appreciate the donations made by our various Kansas tree farms, and all others who made the tree delivery possible.
