Today, in collaboration with , we are releasing the “hemibrain” connectome, a detailed map of neuronal connectivity of roughly half of a fruit fly brain, plus tools for visualization and analysis. Learn more at .

This is a stunning achievement! 26 trillion pixels into a coherent 3D connectome.

Is this the first time fruit fly brain has been mapped?

It's not the first time, but it has a higher level of synapses than some other reconstructions. Note that it is not a full brain (hence the "hemi"), so the fruit fly brain hasn't technically been fully mapped in this reconstruction (it focuses on key circuits/regions).

I'm not sure what the problem is, but it seems to me that the brain is a very complicated and complex process. It's not just a simple process, it's a very complex process. I think the problem is the way it is.
