That shouldn't be a problem. Most of the time that error is caused because the country code was not selected from the drop down for your phone number in the previous screen. ^Lisi

One of the functions of Protection is to prevent loss due to expiration, keeping the domain for an entire year in case a payment fails. Once you remove the Protection, you can buy private registration on the domain to block the data if you wish. ? ^T
