Arctic sea ice is 1.91 million sq. kms (737,000 sq miles) below 1981-2010 average & nearly the same as July 2012 extent (year of record low ice) . For it's the ice conditions in the population that matter. OK in Hudson Bay, poor in the Beaufort Sea.
